Our Selected Partner Universities

Our research shows that we can have the most impact by supporting deserving students and championing strong local institutions. We will start by funding undergraduate students at select Lebanese universities, across faculties. In the future, we will aim to expand our scope to other student groups and more institutions.
THE AMERICAN UNIVERSITY OF BEIRUT

Founded in 1866, the American University of Beirut is a teaching-centered research university. AUB has over 8,000 students and 800 faculty members. The University encourages freedom of thought and expression and seeks to graduate men and women committed to creative and critical thinking, lifelong learning, personal integrity, civic responsibility, and leadership.

THE LEBANESE AMERICAN UNIVERSITY

The Lebanese American University was founded in Beirut as a college for women in 1924. The institution has grown and changed tremendously through the decades, but the enterprising and progressive spirit of those who started it endures. It is committed to academic excellence, student centeredness, civic engagement, the advancement of scholarship, the education of the whole person, and the formation of leaders in a diverse world.

UNIVERSITÉ SAINT JOSEPH

Saint-Joseph University of Beirut (USJ) is a private university, founded in 1875 by the Society of Jesus. The University counts 13 Faculties (religious sciences, medicine, pharmacy, dental medicine, nursing sciences, engineering, law and political sciences, economics, business administration and management, humanities, sciences, educational sciences, and languages), 18 Schools operating under USJ Faculties.

Education is provided on Beirut campuses as well as at Regional Centers in the Beqaa region as well as the North and South of Lebanon.

Candidate Selection Process

We will select candidates according to a range of criteria and a clear scoring system. We aim to reward the most deserving candidates in partnership with each university.

In the longer term, we may also collaborate with other education focused NGOs to combine efforts and drive better impact, as and when possible.

Please note that we do not accept direct applications from students, all applicants to our funds will come via our partner universities.

Scholarship criteria
  1. Academic merit: applicant’s grades should be within the top 35% of their cohort. We will consider school results from the last 2-3 years of studies, and university grades where applicable.
  2. Financial need: applicants should have demonstrable needs for financial support. We will consider household income and obligations, as well as deficit in disposable income should the household have to pay university tuition fees and related costs.
  3. Civic engagement and leadership: applicants should have at least 2 relevant experiences. We will consider experience in volunteering, internships, summer jobs, and engagement in scout programs or other similar civic activities.
  4. Soft skills: applicants should attend up to 3 interviews. These will focus on the candidate’s values and how closely aligned they are with our objectives of helping develop an active, educated and more inclusive society in Lebanon.
